F451 Essay

Fahrenheit 451 is hands down one of the most interesting books I have ever read. What makes this book interesting is how every little scene is actually very big to the story. For this same reason is why we can interpretate a lot of themes into this book. One of many themes is self-determination. We can see self-determination with Montag. Montag drastically changes throughout the story after meeting Clarisse. Before meeting Clarisse, Montag was a regular pedestrian. Well not so regular because he was a firefighter, but to himself, Montag was just a married book burner. After meeting Clarisse, Montag decided to change his life. He wanted to show the world he can be whoever he wants. He wanted to bring back books because that was what he enjoyed. He changed into someone who wanted to change how the future was looking, to how he wanted the future to look. Bradbury not only wrote this book, but he also predicted some of the future. Some examples of his predictions were when he talked about

Table Reading Questions

1.  I believe that Ray Bradbury started the novel like this because it summed up on who he was, a fireman, and I believe its pleasurable for him and others to burn books due to the lack of attention on reading them. 2.  The books are compared to birds because they are being burned and the remains are dispersing onto the environment. 3.  Clarisse sounds a little bit more educational while Montag sounds like a sad person who happens to enjoy watching things burn. 4.  The technology in the novel seems a little bit more soothing since its ocean waves but still, addicting in a way since Mildred can't let go of it. As for the technology we have nowadays, it seems a bit more downgrading and still, addicting..more addicting actually. I don't think it makes much of a difference in their lives though. 5.  I believe that the author does this so that the audience can know how Montag really feels and why. 6.  I believe the author introduces Clarisse to us first because she asks him questio

THE PEDESTRIAN

1. The theme of The Pedestrian is the dangers of  technology to society and humanity.  2. Bradbury gets this message across when he explains about how there was no one in the cop care but just a machine talking to him. Also, when Bradbury talks about seeing flashes through people curtains as in people were just at home watching TV.  3. Bradbury’s tone towards the story is of cautionary because he takes the reader 100 years forward where machines control humans.  4. People don’t walk as much anymore because there are cars. If you don’t have a car then there’s a bus ride. Or a bike. Or a friend. But now there are so many ways for transportation that you don’t need to walk.  5. I think self driving cars should just be used in case of emergency. Let’s say you’re not feeling good so you wanna get to the hospital. You can program the car to take you there. Other than that, people should stop being lazy and get there hands on the steering wheel.  6. I feel like technology can lead yo

INSIDE OUT

Prufrock and Gatsby are different from the inside because Prufrock knows he’s getting old and that’s why for him he is getting worthless. No, Gatsby is first insecure but eventually starts strive by for his dream to come true with Daisy and he just doesn’t realize that he has no chance. You do see this in real life. Also, a lot of people I know, even myself, have appeared someway on the outside but felt another way on the inside.

WHAT I SEE IN LITERATURE

The themes in The Great Gatsby and Prufrock are of loneliness and wanting to be loved and worth something. Both Gatsby and Prufrock need the heat. There lives become miserable because they are too cold.

The Great Gatsby Essay Prompt #4

Saul Salcido 03/11/2018 English 3 Period 3 The Great Gatsby Essay The Great Gatsby is a great book written by a great author. The setting of this book mostly takes place in a rich neighborhood. Also, a lot of characters are rich but none are like Jay Gatsby. Reading this book makes many of us want to strive for success but don't want to end up depressed or even dead like Gatsby does at the end. Today I will be writing about what the American Dream really is. Also, I will be identifying if pursuing the American Dream is necessarily a good thing. The American Dream can mean different things to different people. Some could understand the saying one way while the others disagree. The reality is that there is only one correct meaning to the saying. Success. The American Dream is the opportunity to achieve success and prosperity through hard work, determination, and initiative. So as you can see, the American dream is not all about being economically successful. Yes, it does have

CAN WE WATCH THE MOVIE?

Watching the movie would give us a source to compare and contrast with the book. Not only will it give us visuals but also we will feel all the emotions better than the book did it.

WILD WEDNESDAY

What I did today in class is something I would like to do everyday. I know it’s not possible because we have to get other things done but I would like to because I really took advantage of it and it really helped me out. After all, the present just prepares us for the future.

NOTES FROM TODAY'S LECTURE

Ethos: Character of the speaker. (Do they know what they're talking about?) Pathos: Passion of the speaker. (Do they care about what they're talking about?) Logos: Logic. (Do they make sense?)

I, SOCRATES

What we did in the past 2 days did NOT help me learn and it did not help me become more creative for the following reason: as a class, we did NOTHING.

MUSIC AS LITERATURE

Notes: - These songs WERE made "by" Paul Simon. - Music CAN be described as literature and in a way, it is even more than just literature. - Maybe Paul Simon went to Africa just to get into the vibe of the culture. - Paul Simon was trying to make his genre more relevant. - "Graceland" is Elvis' house. Can we consider music to be literature? - Yes we can consider music to be literature. What is the difference between a novel, a poem, a rap, a song, an opera, and a symphony?  -The difference between all these is that theyall say a story just in a different form with either instruments or voices or a paper and pencil.

The Night Came Slowly

1. The reason the the story is really short is why it interested me. 2. The plot of the story is that a man is tired of human beings and just wants to enjoy the night under a maple tree. 3. The theme is the love for night. 4. After reading the story, it gave me a feeling of wanting to sit under a tree and enjoy the night fall. 5. Yes, I would recommend this story because it's very short and very good. So good that it leaves you thinking about the night.

The Story of an Hour

1. The thing that made me be interested in reading this story was that it is feminist literature. 2. A lady has heart trouble and has to be told carefully about her husband's death. Her sister tells her and she ends up getting a heart attack. 3. The theme of the story can be freedom. 4. After reading it, I honestly thought it was boring. I was falling asleep while reading it. 5. No, I would not recommend this story because I just didn't find the spark that I was looking for and I don't think anybody will.

The Little Match Girl

1. The thing that attracted me to the story was that it is in New Years Eve. 2. The plot is about a little girl who sets out to sell matches on New Years Eve but doesn't sell any. She gets very cold because she lost her mom's slippers that she was wearing and she became barefoot. She ends up in a corner lighting matches to "keep on seeing" her dead grandma but then she basically burned herself to death with all the lit matches. 3. The theme is to be charitable. 4. After reading the story... I thought about how her "grandma" was most likely an evil spirit which made her kill herself. 5. Yes, I would recommend this story because it is very interesting.

5. ACCOMPLISH

The things that I hope to accomplish by June of 2018 is simply to have learned a lot more about Mechanical Engineering. I want my knowledge and IQ to be really high so I can be prepared for whatever comes next.

4. NEXT STEPS

My next step toward my Big Question is very simple. It will just be to learn. I will learn from the Internet by searching up videos on YouTube about Mechanical Engineering.

3. THE BENEFIT

The benefit of learning about Mechanical Engineering is that it will determine my future salary and how I will live my life. It will also benefit the world by having another Mechanical Engineer to do the job others won't know how to do.
