F451 Essay

Fahrenheit 451 is hands down one of the most interesting books I have ever read. What makes this book interesting is how every little scene is actually very big to the story. For this same reason is why we can interpretate a lot of themes into this book. One of many themes is self-determination. We can see self-determination with Montag. Montag drastically changes throughout the story after meeting Clarisse. Before meeting Clarisse, Montag was a regular pedestrian. Well not so regular because he was a firefighter, but to himself, Montag was just a married book burner. After meeting Clarisse, Montag decided to change his life. He wanted to show the world he can be whoever he wants. He wanted to bring back books because that was what he enjoyed. He changed into someone who wanted to change how the future was looking, to how he wanted the future to look.
Bradbury not only wrote this book, but he also predicted some of the future. Some examples of his predictions were when he talked about the little seashells into the ears. This is now what we call earbuds or earphones. Another example of Bradbury’s predictions are parlor walls. He predicted that  there would be TVs hanged from walls. This no one thought of because it was just so futuristic and too cool to be true at that time. I’m not sure how he did all these predictions but it is definatley different from anything I’ve read. Not only that, but it’s a mystery to the reader.
There are many elements in Bradbury’s writing that make his book one of a kind. His syntax, the way he uses his words, is great. He uses a lot of discriptive words that when you really get into the book, you get to feel what he is describing. It can either be a bad or good feeling depending on what he is describing. Another element of his writing is his tone. His tone is very intense. Once there is action you cannot stop reading because of how intense he uses his words to describe the scene. This intense tone gives the reader a worried or frightened mood. This is what makes people want to keep on reading the book instead of putting it down. At last, Montag uses symbols. One example of a symbol he uses in Fahrenheit 451 is fire. In this book, fire, to Montag, symbolizes the equalizer to everything. Fire can eliminate anything so that it won’t be reversible. Another symbol Bradbury uses are the books. The books aren’t really that important. Books are just objects. The importance about them is what they have to offer. Knowledge. That’s powerful. Thing about it this way: They can take away your object, but they can’t take away your memory.
